Slow-moving thunderstorms with very heavy rain caused isolated minor flooding problems. The storms developed in response to daytime heating of a very moist air mass. A low pressure system drifted slowly eastward into the lower Mississippi Valley, tapping into a fetch of tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.
