River levels on the Des Moines were somewhat elevated due to dam releases upstream at Saylorville Lake. A heavy rainfall across the Des Moines metro and surrounding areas during the evening of June 22nd allowed river levels to rise above flood stage on the Des Moines River and also on the Raccoon River in locations around the Des Moines metro area.
