Numerous clusters of thunderstorms accompanied a cold front as it moved south across western Kentucky during the afternoon. The front was associated with an upper level shortwave trough moving across Illinois and Missouri. Some of these storms produced flooding rainfall as they moved through a tropical air mass, where precipitable water values approached two inches.
