Abundant monsoon moisture over New Mexico interacted with a back door cold front shifting southwest through the northeast plains. An area of showers and thunderstorms moving slowly south from Colorado along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains into the Ute Park area on August 5, 2019. A brief heavy storm produced a quick one quarter inch to four tenths of an inch of rainfall above Ute Park.
