A deep plume of monsoon moisture centered over New Mexico interacted with a surface boundary moving westward across the eastern plains on August 6, 2019. Thunderstorms erupted over the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains during the early afternoon before drifting southward into the Rio Grande Valley.
