Isolated to scattered monsoon thunderstorms developed across portions of eastern Riverside County during the afternoon hours on July 25th. Some of the stronger storms produced locally heavy rains that were sufficient to cause an episode of flash flooding to the east of Joshua Tree National Park. According to the California Highway Patrol, flash flooding caused long stretches of highway 62 to become closed. The report from the highway patrol came at 1626PST.
