Monsoon thunderstorms developed around Joshua Tree National Park during the afternoon hours on July 25th, and some of the stronger storms produced locally heavy rainfall with peak rain rates in excess of one inch per hour. The heavy rain was sufficient to produce an episode of flash flooding across the northern portion of the park.
