Flooding continued in parts of far northeastern Rapid City, Box Elder, and along Box Elder Creek after heavy rain from a thunderstorm on the evening of May 31. Automated river gauges and public safety officials indicated flooding across most of the area north and northeast of Rapid City in Pennington and far southern Meade Counties. High water levels continued late night into the daytime hours on June 1, with flooding in Box Elder along Box Elder Creek.
