Showers and thunderstorms formed in a very warm, humid, and unstable airmass ahead of a cold front across eastern Iowa during the evening of July 2nd. A thunderstorm produced damaging winds that knocked a tree onto a house in Jones County. Another thunderstorm produced heavy rains of 2 to 3 inches that caused flash flooding in the city of Clinton.
