A large complex of showers and thunderstorms progressed across southeast Iowa during the afternoon of July 17th. These storms produced damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH at times, causing damage to roofs, carports, siding, and uprooted or damaged trees. Additionally, torrential rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches were reported. The torrential rains caused brief flash flooding in the city of Keokuk.
