An upper-level disturbance interacting with a nearly stationary frontal boundary triggered clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms across central and southeast Illinois during the afternoon and evening of July 3rd. Training cells resulted in localized flash flooding...particularly across southern Clay County and northwestern Fulton County where several roads were closed due to high water. Other cells produced minor wind damage and hail up to the size of nickels.
