Flash Flood — Knox, OH

Flood Cause
Heavy Rain

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms moved across central Ohio in the afternoon and evening of July 2nd. By the early morning hours of July 3, a third round of showers moved along the US 30 corridor mainly over Marion, Morrow, Knox and counties further south. Rainfall of 1.5 to 2.5 inches across Marion, Morrow, and Knox Counties.

A warm front lifted north out of the central plains and into Ohio on April 3 with a trailing area of low pressure over Michigan. Morning showers on April 3rd brought an inch or two of rain to southern portions of the area over the Ohio River drainage basin.

Another day of heavy rain moved into Ohio bringing localized areas of 2 to 3 inches of rain. Runoff from these mainly afternoon and evening storms fell on saturated soils and caused the rivers and streams and streams to rise.
