Showers and thunderstorms developed across the area during the afternoon in response to an approaching warm front. These showers developed within an environment with increasing precipitable water values, resulting in a several hour period of heavy rain. Rainfall totals across Orange and Rockland counties ranged from 0.75-1.5 inches.
