An approaching upper level trough of low pressure interacted with a surface frontal boundary anchored over northern Nebraska, producing thunderstorms. Some storms became severe, especially over northern Nebraska. Thunderstorm wind gusts to 60 MPH and ping pong ball sized hail was reported with the severe thunderstorms.
