An unseasonably warm and humid airmass flowed northward in advance of a front system on the 30th. This resulted in multiple clusters of showers and thunderstorms which repeatedly moved across northwest Alabama. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches were reported, with much of it falling during a 2-3 hour period during the late afternoon and early evening hours. This resulted in several flash floods in northwest Alabama, followed by a period of areal flooding.
