Low pressure moving up the east coast of the U.S. produce 3 to 5 inches of rain in a short period of time on mostly frozen ground, resulting in flash flooding in southwest Maine. Many streams and creeks flooded due to the heavy rain with the hardest hit areas being across coastal York and Cumberland counties. Many roads were closed across this area. In Biddeford a sinkhole formed causing damage to the sewer system.
