A weak and shallow cold front drifted south across much of East Texas into Central Louisiana during the early morning hours of March 4th, providing slightly cooler and more stable air at the surface in its wake across much of the Ark-La-Tex. However, large scale forcing began to increase across East Texas and North Louisiana well ahead of a closed upper level low pressure system that entered West Texas shortly after midnight on the 4th, as overrunning began to increase atop the shallow cool air
