A warm front stalled and lingered near the Altamaha Basin as a surface low tracked east along the front across south Georgia. This basin recived 3-4 inches of widespread rainfall the previous 24 hrs with an additional 2-4 inches were expected through the day on 3/5 as strong low level lift, upper level forcing and unseasonably high deep moisture all coincided over already saturated grounds.
