Strong to severe thunderstorms developed over northwestern Texas and southwestern Oklahoma during the evening of the 18th. These storms moved northeast and affected portions of northwestern Arkansas during the early morning hours of the 19th. Another round of thunderstorms moved across northwest Arkansas later that morning. The subsequent locally heavy rainfall, which occurred on already saturated soils, resulted in flash flooding.
