An upper trough, along with a very moist atmosphere, contributed to a band of heavy showers and thunderstorms that set up in an area of low level moisture convergence just east of a slow moving surface low, leading to heavy rain and flash flooding. Rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches, most of which fell over the course of a few hours, led to some roads flooding and washing out. Water entered some homes, and some people had to be rescued.
