Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms during the late morning into the early afternoon developed in a moist and unstable air mass with a deep plume of tropical moisture flowing into central North Carolina in advance of an approaching mid level disturbance from the southwest. This resulted in several reports of flash flooding across central North Carolina.
