Persistent easterly flow allowed for showers and storms to develop and migrate towards the Gulf Coast of South Florida. An inverted trough axis that finally pushed from the Florida peninsula and out in the Gulf Of Mexico further allowed for instability and aided in the development of convection, especially with a nearly cloud-free morning. Repeated rounds of heavy rainfall eventually led to flooding in portions of Collier County.
