Clusters of thunderstorms increased in coverage and intensity during the afternoon along an east to west corridor across southeast Missouri into western Kentucky. The storms produced very heavy rainfall, along with an isolated damaging wind gust or two. The storms formed along and ahead of a slow-moving frontal boundary that extended generally along the Ohio River into southeast Missouri.
