Scattered slow-moving thunderstorms during the afternoon produced heavy rainfall. Hourly totals of one to two inches resulted in isolated flooding. The storms were associated with an upper-level disturbance moving eastward across the mid Mississippi Valley. At the surface, a weak area of low pressure was near the Missouri/Kentucky border. The environment was characterized by dew points around 70 with precipitable water values near 1.5 inches.
