An upper-level low drifted slowly eastward across the northern Plains, with a band of moderately strong southwesterly flow aloft overspreading portions of the mid Mississippi Valley. A cold front also moved eastward across this region, providing the focus for a line of showers and a few thunderstorms during the evening. Locally very heavy rain caused some minor flooding.
