Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed along a southward sinking outflow boundary in a very moist atmosphere, characterized by a weak westerly steering flow. This resulted in training showers and storms producing heavy rainfall. This resulted in several reports of flash flooding across the Piedmont of central North Carolina.
