Strong to severe thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and evening of the 10th as an upper level disturbance and outflow boundary from an intense derecho over Iowa interacted with a stalled front. The strongest storms produced hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter. Strong straight line winds produced damage across the region. During the early morning hours of the 11th, another upper level disturbance generated additional storms mainly over areas along and south of Interstate 44.
