An upper level disturbance high instability and moderate wind shear led to severe storm development across the Texas Panhandle. The strongest storm produced a swath of thunderstorm wind damage around 2 miles wide and 4 miles long occurred along the Fritch Highway near Webb Rd. Damage within the area included numerous broken or leaning power poles, downed power lines and damage to roofs, porches, and awnings at local residences, especially those facing west.
