A weak cold front associated with an upper level disturbance passed through deep South Texas on the evening of August 1st into the overnight hours. Strong thunderstorms formed along and ahead of this front in conjunction with preexisting convective boundaries in the area, bringing damaging winds and flooding rain to the lower Rio Grande Valley. The impacts were primarily felt in Hidalgo and Cameron County, which were still recovering from ample rainfall and remnant flooding from Hurricane Hanna
