A wet and windy storm moved across Canada and NY on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Temperatures were in the 50s, melting any existing snowpack and rainfall was 1 to 2 inches across much of the region with localized 3 inches in portions of Essex county. The combination of rainfall and snow melt cause many streams and rivers to rise substantially and this included the AuSable River to flood.
