Storms developed across portions of East Tennessee in the afternoon and evening of May 3, with some producing gusty winds and small hail. Storms continued through the night, saturating the ground. As a line of storms associated with a cold front moved through during the morning hours of May 4, flash flooding and damaging winds occurred.
