A surface low pressure trough moved into southern New England while a deamplifying short wave trough moved through aloft. This was enough to trigger a few thunderstorms, with locally heavy rainfall. One storm became severe and dropped quarter size hail in southeast Hartford County, along with up to 4.79 inches of rain, and caused localized flash flooding.
