An upper level ridge was in place across eastern Kentucky and points eastward, but was weakening on June 30th heading into the evening hours. This was allowing for decent return southerly flow and increased shower and thunderstorm potential. However, with little in the way of shear, most of the storms were poorly organized and pulsy in nature.
