Flood — Alachua, FL

Jun 24, 2021

East northeasterly winds increased through the morning as high pressure wedged southward and a coastal trough developed. A weakness aloft remained over the area, with cooler temperatures aloft (-8.5 to -9.5C at 500mb) and aided in shower/thunderstorm development. Storms also focused along and south of a frontal boundary draped across the area. Heavy rainfall occurred on the south side of the meandering front with a few strong storms given elevated surface instability across NE FL.
