A midlevel shortwave trough trekked across the Northern Rockies beneath a weakening ridge. This feature tapped into the already present monsoonal moisture to produce scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Some storms produced heavy rain which led to localized flash flooding across portions of Grand County in east-central Utah.
