With an area of high pressure centered over the central Great Plains, drier air began to filter into eastern New Mexico on July 29, 2021. Meanwhile, a steady monsoon moisture plume continued across central and western New Mexico that helped to develop a round of scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
