A stalled boundary across the region, combined with an influx of moisture and humid airmass, led to afternoon showers and thunderstorms across eastern Kentucky. These storms resulted in heavy rainfall, which caused flash flooding in portions of Laurel County. Another storm resulted in strong wind gusts and downed trees in Letcher County.
