A combination of heavy rain and the melting of a record snowpack led to historic flooding along the Saint John River at Fort Kent. The Saint John River reached all-time historic levels during the flooding. A significant portion of Fort Kent was flooded along with many evacuations. However...a levee did protect some portions of downtown Fort Kent.
