A couple of thunderstorms merged into a stationary complex of storms over the Poplar Bluff area. The storms dumped torrential rainfall. A trained spotter measured 2.61 inches from the afternoon storms. The storms occurred during the heat of the afternoon in the vicinity of a stationary front that extended from west central Missouri down into western Tennessee.
