A slow-moving thunderstorm produced torrential rainfall across the Village of Fonda on Monday, July 19, 2021. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain fell in just a couple of hours. A small creek north of the village overflowed its banks, sending water and mud downstream into the village. Storm drains became plugged up with debris so water was unable to get through. Many roads were closed and impassable in and around the village until early Tuesday morning, July 20, 2021. ||A state of emergency was issue
