An elongated upper trough extended from east Texas northeast across northwest Alabama and eastern Tennessee. Precipitable water values exceeded two inches along and south of the upper trough axis. Several clusters of convection with locally heavy rainfall produced flash flooding in Jefferson and Shelby counties.
