A few strong thunderstorms developed in western Imperial County in the afternoon in a highly unstable environment with above normal moisture levels. Rain rates with the storm were upwards of 2 inches per hour with a few areas of radar estimated accumulations between 1.0-2.0 inches in roughly 1 hour. This resulted in localized flash flooding with at least one reported flooded road in the Salton City area.
