A warm and humid airmass remained stagnant over Central New York on this day. A weak upper level disturbance moved through the region, triggering heavy rain producing thunderstorms. Steering winds were very weak, therefore, thunderstorms lingered over the same areas resulting in urban and small stream flash flooding.

Low pressure moved north along the Atlantic Seaboard spreading steady and heavy rain into central New York during the overnight hours. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches were observed along with a considerable amount of melting snow into area rivers and streams.
