An area of low pressure moved through the area, producing heavy rain especially along and east of Highway 17 toward the coast. One to three inches fell over much of the rain, but as much as three to almost eight inches fell along the coast from Onslow county through Carteret, southeast Beaufort, and Outer Banks Hyde and Outer Banks Dare, from near Rodanthe south.
