A nearby upper air trough helped induce heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms in windward sections of the Big Island of Hawaii. The rainfall eventually resulted in flash flooding over a portion of the total area affected, but most locales saw small stream and drainage ditch flooding, and ponding on roadways.
