A warm and muggy airmass persisted over southeast Michigan. A complex of thunderstorms moved east across northern Michigan in the early morning hours.

Thunderstorms developed along the lake breeze fronts as they moved inland off of Lakes Huron and St Clair. Several of these became marginally severe, producing hail up to the size of quarters. The largest hail fell in Washington Township in Macomb County.

Severe thunderstorms developed during the evening hours of the 11th and continued into into the early morning hours of the 12th, producing numerous reports of downed trees and power lines, large hail, a few reports of flash flooding, and even a couple of F0 tornadoes.
