River flooding occurred in southern Lyon County during the latter half of May. Areas along both the mainstem Walker River and the West Walker River experienced flooding. The main flooding occurred in agricultural and lowland areas.

Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms over the mountains west and north of Montello filled already saturated dry washes leading into Montello. This resulted in 1 to 3 feet of water running along the roadway through town. Some homes had their basements flooded.

Moderately high atmospheric moisture with slow-moving thunderstorms brought heavy rain and isolated severe thunderstorms from the 19th through the 21st. Extensive damage from flash floods and debris flows was reported in Douglas County and Carson City on the 20th.

Heavy rain from thunderstorms produced flash flooding on Pole Line Road about 14 miles northwest of Tonopah and along Highway 50 just west of Eureka. Thunderstorms winds gusted to 70 mph at the Warm Springs Summit mesonet site east of Tonopah, and 58 mph at the Tonopah airport.
