Sublette County Flood History

Flash Flood — Jul 22, 2018

Rains from thunderstorms and a clogged culvert allowed water to flow across Highway 189 around 6 miles north of Labarge. After the clog was removed, the water receded and the highway reopened.

Flash Flood — Mar 12, 2017

Rapid snow melt caused by warming temperatures produced flooding in portions of Sublette County. There was flooding in the normally flood prone areas around LaBarge where water rose into a couple of houses basements. In addition, high water closed portions of Highway 372 between Mile Markers 40 and 48 for a couple of days. The water receded the morning on March 14th.

Warming temperatures in June brought rapid snow melt of mountain snow pack and led to flooding around portions of Sublette County, especially along the New Fork and Green Rivers as well as some of it's tributaries. Flood — Jul 1, 2011

Rapid melt of a strong late season snowpack resulted in high water levels along many rivers and streams in Sublette County. Certain sections of the Green and New Fork rivers flooded lowlands and in some cases necessitated the sandbagging of homes. The waters eventually worked their way downstream to near LaBarge where at least one county road was flooded.
