A strong cold front brought widespread showers and thunderstorms to central Illinois from the afternoon of March 30th through the pre-dawn hours of March 31st. 24-hour rainfall totals ranged from 2 to 3 inches, which caused localized flash flooding of a few rural roads. A man tried to drive across a flooded roadway southwest of Shelbyville in Shelby County at around 7:30am CDT on March 31st. His vehicle stalled, and he was swept away by the current when he exited.
