An inverted trough moving westward near the Arizona/New Mexico border aided in thunderstorm development during the afternoon of the 27th across far eastern Arizona. Thunderstorms progressed toward the west before reaching southern Gila County late in the afternoon. Deep monsoonal moisture, with PWATs in excess of 1.70, resulted in thunderstorms being efficient rainfall producers. In the Globe area, rainfall amounts upwards of 1.70 in an hour were reported.
